PLATO PLUS+System® is a
two-part system.
Contained within the heart of the crack detector is a programmable logic controller,
which contains the pre-loaded software enabling the machine to perform exactly
what is asked of it.
The first part of the system is a process controller accessed by a colour monitor
and
keypad. This is an independent computer which is self-monitoring and initiates
programmed test routines specific to individual components; monitors and regulates
current values using the most up to date PID circuitry (Proportional Integral
Derivative);
and is capable of sophisticated data logging and sorting for transmission of
results
to create detailed reports.
Test regimes for new components can be written via the onboard keypad and monitor
or loaded from a laptop or PC. Test programs can be sent or updated via e-mail.
The PLATO PLUS+System® has a robust autonomous
processor, which unlike a PC cannot be diverted from
the job in hand. This feature becomes important when
dealing with the safe "real time" regulation of heavy
currents.
There are numerous in built safety features including,
"over current" abort test; "bad contact" abort test; current
lock fail safe as well as operator prompts to address
possible problems.
We believe that no system currently available can compare with the technology
employed to process critical components whilst simultaneously monitoring for
safety.
The second part of the system comprises of a standard PC and printer loaded
with the
PLATO PLUS+ SOFTWARE® which is an "add
on" and can be included as an upgrade
at a later date. The PC merely receives the test data and archives it as "Windows"
type
documents.
Test Records, log the actual current values and "shot times" etc Archives
are stored by
the system and can not be altered at a later date.
Records can be sorted and filed in a "Windows" environment.
TRACEABLE CALIBRATION
Calibration is individual to all the modes of operation, i.e. AC CF, AC COIL,
MF, etc.
The meter displays Peak Amps Readings
Calibration Traceable to NAMMAS Standards (ISO 17025)
The Sensors used to determine current and field strength values have their own
individual
20 Point calibration adjustment.
PLATO PLUS+System® includes an integral Calibration
Program that enables it to follow
any Meter to within 1% of its reading. This means that interference due to probe
orientation
or proximity to stray magnetic fields is completely eliminated. Each Calibrated
scale can
also be displayed and checked graphically by the Engineer
REPORT GENERATION AND PRINTING
Prompts to aid the operator to enter component description, batch No, etc. via
the on-board
colour monitor and keypad.

Report findings
Tests are verified "confirmed" or "aborted". If aborted
a code is applied to the report as to
the reason why the test was not completed.
Another report capable of being generated is a SYSTEM INTEGRITY CHECK. The machine
will prompt an operator to check solid content, light levels and test pieces
if required.
"INTELLIGENT" CONTROL
The PLATO PLUS+System® is "Intelligent"
since contained within its programming are
sub-routines which make the machine operation safer and also brings the operators
attention to particular activities and choices. This intelligence works on different
levels.
The most complex of component test regimes can be accommodated due to the fact
that processing power is expandable. The system not only controls the crack
detection
process, but also monitors moving parts; drives loading mechanisms and control
devices
such as stepper motors and encoders. This makes it ideally suited for integration
into
automated production lines as well as a sophisticated stand alone M.P.I. Test
Station.
