NDT Demagnetising Coil
The MC260 can be used as both a magnetizing (AC and DC) and demagnetising coil (AC) and is capable of finding circumferential orientated defects. Encapsulated in a hard wearing polymer the MC260 is resistant to impact, abrasion and corrosion damage. This unit is suitable for use in even the harshest engineering environments.
For MPI techniques AC waveforms are more suited for finding surface defects, while DC waveforms have greater penetration and are capable of finding slightly sub-surface defects.
Unlike the AC only model which is available in either 110 or 230V versions, the AC/DC model requires an 110V supply - For environments where only 230V supplies are available a separate stepdown transformer will need to be purchased.
AC/DC Modes
The MC260 AC/DC demagnetizer is similar to the standard AC MC260 but is supplied with a sealed control box which features a mode selection dial to allow operators to select either AC or DC modes of operation.
The foot pedal featured on the AC Only models is also replaced with a Hand Control which displays the currently selected mode and a energization button.
The AC mode is effective at demagnetization / degaussing – However the DC waveforms produced by the MC260 (AC/DC) do not change polarity, so this mode is not suitable for demagnetizing parts. Therefore the DC mode should only be used when wanting to magnetize a part.
